Michigan has medical marjiuana laws. Basically you go down to the one exisiting clinic and state your ailment. Then you are given a "get out of jail free" card and sent on your way. But it's still illegal to buy it so the "don't ask don't tell" policy kicks in I guess. Marijuana does have medical possibilities but I know for a fact that half the card carrying users simply like to smoke pot and would prefer to not get into trouble. I really thought they'd have legalized it across the board by now anyway.

I knew it, I just knew it. Last summer we had an exceptional volume of cars driving past our place up on Sardine Creek in Gold Hill; sometimes more than two or three cars a day. I drove up to see what was going on and the only thing that seemed out of place was a large portable vinyl garage type of building about a click up the road. This was in the Medford, Oregon paper the other day. Note that we live at 4824 Sardine Creek Road less than a tenth of a mile from the evil doers.

Gold Hill man charged with exceeding pot growing limits

    January 23, 2010

    By Chris Conrad
    Mail Tribune
GOLD HILL — A Gold Hill man was arrested Thursday on felony drug charges for allegedly growing and selling more marijuana than allowed under Oregon's Medical Marijuana Program, police said.

Police served a search warrant at a home in the 4900 block of Sardine Creek Road in Gold Hill where they found an indoor marijuana garden, a firearm and cash, Medford Police Deputy Chief Tim George said.

The site was registered under the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program as a grow site for legal card holders.

Police found 80 pounds of marijuana, ready for sale, George said.

"The caregivers at the site could legally possess 12 pounds of usable marijuana," George said. "Needless to say, they were way over."

Officers arrested Tommie Dean McIntosh, 37, on charges of manufacture of marijuana, possession of marijuana and delivery of marijuana
    .
In addition, he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felony.
George said firearms are routinely seized at large marijuana gardens.

"Guns are used for protection in these cases," George said. "There is a lot of money at stake and the growers want to protect their crops."

The estimated value of the marijuana was $200,000, George said.

McIntosh was a registered caregiver for eight medical marijuana card holders.

Oregon law limits medical marijuana growers to six mature plants, 18 seedlings and 24 ounces of usable marijuana per patient at any one time. "Usable" refers to dried leaves and flowers with medicinal value.

"We are seeing the medical marijuana abused by individuals who grow pot to make a profit," George said.

Another registered care giver living at the home with McIntosh was not charged with a crime, George said.

In December, police seized 225 pounds of marijuana from gardens in Grants Pass that were registered under the medical marijuana program.

"Again, we don't not prosecute people who grow marijuana legally under the OMMP," George said. "It is only those who grow more than they are allowed to sell for a profit that concern us."

    Won't be long now....

before the State of Oregon throws all those "allowable amounts" out the window in favor of the taxable free for all bound to engulf the whole nation. The government probably already has the tax stamps printed and ready to go for a pack of wacky tobbacky available at 7-11. I can see Kansas growing weed from border to border and Mexico's economy down the tubes-if possible. BTW, how many acres did you say you have out there Dick?? :shiner: You could be the new "flower top" baron of Gold Hill!
