What is difference the progressive lenses have thinning prism or not

What are differences of the progressive lenses that have thinning prism or not when a person wears the lenses? I mean it will affect adaptation?

Clinical studies have demonstrated that wearers can tolerate up to 2.0 prism diopters or more of vertical prism-thinning without adaptation issues. Beyond 3.0 prism diopters, however, the patient may experience unusual postural adjustments and other unwanted symptoms associated with excess vertical prism.

    prism thinning

In my own personal experiences I find prism thinning causes ghost images around lights in very low powers, from say plano to around 1.00 or 1.50, my preference is not to have prism thinning in that range of power.
