    If you like great steaks...

I went to Churrascaria Plataforma about 3 weeks ago, and it was some of the best steak I've ever had. Service was out of this world also. It's in Hell's Kitchen.

Trattoria Dell'arte across from Carnegie Hall on 7th Ave. Great food, and you never know when Paul McCartney will show up (happened to me!).

Redeye Grill, 7th Ave., owned by the same outfit (great seafood).

Carnegie Deli, 7th Ave., sandwich should last a week or so.

Schiller's Liquor Bar, Lower East Side. Inexpensive & quirky.

    Mr. Chow, Tribeca. Creative Chinese.

La Mela, Mulberry St. in Little Italy. Sit with people you don't know (at least, at first) banquet-style. Tell the waiter it's your birthday and he may throw a plate to the floor (I guess you could lie).
