Luxottica's Oakley plans major European push
    Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:58am EST

BERLIN, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Oakley, the second-largest brand behind Ray Ban at Italy's Luxottica (LUX.MI), on Wednesday said it expected its business to improve in 2010 compared with this year and was planning a major commercial push in Europe.

"If I consider 2009 as the worst, then we should be in a great position to be positive next year," Colin Baden, Oakley chief executive told Reuters on the fringes of a luxury conference organised by the International Herald Tribune.

"We are still projecting high single-digit growth for this year," he said.

So I guess we get to sit back in awe as the Oakley Marketing team convinces even more people to buy their *wonderful* product. Personally I don't get it. Sure, their lenses can take a lead pellet and not shatter, same when a "projectile" is dropped from 6 feet and they razzle/dazzle with their "O-Matter" and "Plutonite", but at the end of the day these are the most ill-fitting frames I've worked with. I hardly doubt that most people who buy these frames are dodging pellets and projectiles on a daily basis. Oakley is like the Wizard of Oz and I'm waiting for people to see the man behind the curtain.
