    Confused Progressive problem

    I need help, please!

I have a patient that has been wearing a glass 1.8 progressive forever. Made a new pair (rodenstock glass 1.8), matched all the same measurements as before, ie pd, height, bc, lens type etc. New rx is basically the same (-0.50 stronger ou, -10.00/-9.50). The patient is complaing that with each individual eye, the distance is clear, however, with both eyes open she says everything looks as thought it is in 3D. My assumption is that the rx is correct. Please help me as to what the problem may be. If it were the fitting heights, she would complain of seeing double primarily up close, but the trouble originates in the distance.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like what I had a few years ago. Binocular PD was dead on, mono was off by 1.5 OU. Everything looked really strange in my 1.67 lenses until it was fixed.

Other than that, maybe you should avoid the one blue lens, one red lens.

    Hi
These kind of issues is mostly belong to the frame and not the lenses, because of a new frame with different front curve. Normally the vision will get more strained with a higher front curve.
Today more frames is more curved, and it´s important to match the lenses with the frame. For frames with higher front curve than 5 degrees, you must select the right lenses such as: Autograph II, Individual, Impression or Ipseo 4.

My guess is that your client belong to this case.

    Check the frame alignment

Just had 2 people in today with similar complaints. One just needed more panto and the other needed co-planer alignment. The bridge was twisted .

If everything is the same except the Rx (check the doctor's vertex distance and that the panto angle is two degrees for every 1mm the distance OC is below the pupil), all that's left is the .50 D bump in power. Evaluate the distance VA with +.25 and +.50 flippers after the glasses have been worn for at least fifteen minutes- I would suspect that they are over-minused if the VA is unaffected with more plus. If they see better with the increase in minus then they should be worn for 10 days and re-evaluate if the discomfort persists.
