Surety Bond

Has anyone gotten any definative word on the DME surety bond that was rumored to take effect October 2009? I have heard many theories but have nothing concrete, last word was that it was only for opticals that fill RX's from outside cat Rx's???? Sounds strange.......

Getting contrasting information from medicare and OAA. Medicare says amoung other things that prosthetics suppliers do not have to take bond. Concidering not bothering with Medicare glasses but continueing prosthetics. OAA says one does have to have bond for prosthetics.
OAA says it has an arrangment where members can get bond For 250.00.
My insureance agent just quoted my secretary $250.00 But she also said it would be $500.00. If you don't have a license. No one in Mississippi has a license to be an optician.

Obviously I have further calls into my insureance agent.

Oddly according to the OAA Optometrists and Ophthalmologist (does anyone think they are more honest than opticians) are exempt from the bond. Probably people working in prescriber owned dispensaries (at least those that are openly so) will not have to be bonded.
