    Favorite Martinis!!!

I don't usually drink margaritas, but this weekend I discovered one I like- A LOT!

    Key Lime Martini
    2 oz. Vanilla Vodka
    1 oz. Half-and-Half Cream
    1 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
    pinch of sugar

Tastes just like a Key Lime pie! I actually went out and purchased a drink mixing cup to make a few of these for last night's MNF game. Most QBs need 25-30 minutes to win a game... Peyton "Microwave" Manning gets it done in just 14 minutes! In the words of Ron Poppeil "Just set him, and forget him, and your game is won!"

Anyway, now that I have the equipment, what is the recipe of YOUR favorite margarita (no tequila, please... Jose Cuervo is NO friend of mine ;^)?

If it doesn't have tequila, is it still a Margerita?

Whoops!!!! This thread should read "Favorite Martini's" (my bad, used the wrong drinking term... perhaps those four martinis are having a lasting effect :^)! :p

    I've made the change!

    Great Martini
    3 oz Citadelle Gin
    1/2 tsp dry vermouth

Stir vigorously with ice and strain into cocktail glass over a lemon twist.

    Good Shot
Layer a shot glass with 1/2 Bailey's and 1/2 peppermit schnapps. Tastes like a combination of Thin Mints and mint chip ice cream.

The lime juie will curdle the cream and you'll be thowing up in no time. Usually it's doen with a free kalua after someones been drinking a few drinks with lime in them, but your martini might do the trick as well.
I was just thinking that. Gah! Cement mixers are cruel jokes.

BTW...Harry, since you were a bartender...what's in a Gorilla Fart? Hubby told me his version and I want to see if he's telling the truth

I've always lit them on fire before serving.

A Martini is gin, vermouth, and an olive. If you change or add an ingredient, it is no longer a Martini. Even changing to onions makes it a Gibson. So call me a purist.

But I like what some people would call an espresso martini

    espresso
    vodka
    kahlua
    Bailey's Irish Cream
    vanilla vodka
    white creme de cocoa
    ...Just ask me...

Does anyone else smell burning hair? :D

According to hubby and a couple of other barkeeps I'd asked, their version of a Gorilla Fart was whatever was in the spill mat.

    Harry,
Interesting info on the curdling... I called down to the resort and spoke to the bartender. She says the trick is to add the cream last (after shaking). When I mixed 'em this way, they started tasting closer to the ones I enjoyed last weekend.

Also, she said its "really important" to have freshly squeezed lime juice- not the stuff out of the bottle.

Still enjoying them, and I'm going to try your "French Martini" recipe as well.

    Thanks,
    Pete

Funny now but not at the time....had a martini party once (I drank saki-tini's as vodka is not my friend). Dog wobbled into my bed in the morning like her bones were made of jell-o so I took her to the vet emergency hospital where they discovered she had alcohol poisining.

She was fine, just very, very drunk. Turns out that one of our guests passed out with glass full in-hand and our little girl helped herself to the hooch!

She's still and alchoholic and has to be closely monitored when there is company and booze around!

    Slurred Sabrina Saki-tini (est. 1998)

3 parts Saki (Junmai Daiginjo or premium)
    1 part pommegranate juice
    dash of lemon juice

Served on ice with sugar rimmed glass

We used to have this Shih-Tzu named "Pepe," and- during a poker game- one of my friends poured a whole beer into his dog dish (just to see if the little guy would drink it). After he gulped it all down, we noticed he didn't "seem quite right."

Well, then we got to thinking and realized Pepe only weighed 7 pounds- considering I weighed in at 150 (years ago :^), him drinking one beer was equivalent to me putting away 21 beers! Anyway, that night when he tried to jump up on the waterbed (another blast from the past), he misjudged the leap and ended up sprawled on the floor (where he stayed). Little guy snored ALL NIGHT (fast little doggie snores, snggh, snggh, snggh, snggh)!

    Loudmouth Soup!

Real martini drinkers cringe when they read this thread. Spexvet had it right, right up to the part about an expresso martini! You want coffee?----drink coffee! You want banana's?---- eat banana's----- You want a drink?? Light up a martini! If you do more than whisper vermouth over your premium "fruit of the juniper", you are just flavoring the vermouth!

Now that I have Bill W. as a friend I can call a spade a shovel with impunity!
