Redhot Jumper Did you know ??????? Optical Statistics

In 2004, about 66,000 opticians sold and dispensed eyewear.

Nearly one-third worked in retail chain optical stores.

About 30 percent worked in the offices of optometrists and more than 10 percent worked in offices of ophthalmologists.

Nearly 6 percent are self employed, and run their own business.

Others work in the optical departments of department stores or other general merchandise stores, such as warehouse clubs and superstores —

More than 35,000 optometrists who are members of the American Optometric Association are in practice in the United States. —
    American Optometric Association, 2007.

As of May 2004, there were 17,070 practicing ophthalmologists in the United States. —

You may want to pay attention to the stated copyright on the informtation that you cut and pasted...in apparent violation of the authors' copyright notice. Note that pasting a link to the page as attribution does not, in fact, make the copying of their material legal.

I'd be very cautious, also, about taking these statistics out of context. First of all, they are 3 years old. Secondly, there is no indication of the methodology for compiling those stats. VisionWatch is a consumer survey...I don't know if stats coming from a survey are accurate, or not.

The stats appear to be relative to "all eyeglasses lenses". So...do those stats for AR coats include readers? Safety glasses? Non-rx sunglasses? Medicaid or other channels where the patient did not act as a paying consumer? 3D specs for the horror movie? What would the stats be for Rx spectacle lenses alone? I also get a little nervous at out-of-context stats.

Redhot Jumper Invitation to do better..............

I am aware of that.................and copy only a small part of the information and then give the link to check the whole site, which considerably brings more visitors to a mentioned website. That is what the operators of websites want.

..............Why don't you take some time and do a research on what you are complaining about and come up with More recent figure that include all the other points you are questioning and post it here. It is always easier to complain about others than do better.
