    Sola Synchrony

My CZV rep informed me recently that Sola will be launching Sola Synchrony to replace Solamax in Malaysia.

According to him, Synchrony works better for distance and has almost the same performance for near as compared to Solamax.

From what I gathered from the forum, Synchrony is based on Solamax and SolaOne platform and was first launched in the US and Canada before coming to our shores.

Can anyone tell me more about the lens and how it is compared to Solamax?

I'm not sure how extensive their US launch was. I've never heard of this lens. Judging by the lack of response, no one else has either.

Apparently Zeiss has launched this lens in Australia as well.

The one over here are all made from their China lab.

I've ordered a pair, will update once i dispensed the lenses.

The CSV rep says that Synchrony gives less peripheral distortion compared to Solamax while giving almost at par intermediate and near vision similar to Solamax.

Since its not officially launched yet here, I have yet to get hold of hard facts regarding this lens.

I was told by CSV rep said that the material of SOLAOne will be changed from Finalite to MR-8. Have you heard about that issue?

As far as i concerned, Finalite and MR-8 material are very much the same. They might be apparent distinction between these two lens material is the Tensile strength, The MR8 resin has a higher tensile strength. ...

    SOLA Finalite™ ABBE : 42 Specific Gravity : 1.22 (Lighter)

    MR-8 1.6 Plastic Abbe : 41 Specific Gravity : 1.30 (Stronger)

My understanding is that the Synchrony was released for consumption by the chains and big box stores, which might explain the lack of information on it.

Sola Synchrony is created base on Sola One and Sola Max design platform, known as Sola Max upgrade version, hence, Synchrony users can enjoy balanced vision from Distant to Reading. This Sola latest PAL is also designed to cope with contemporary lifestyle, which widely involved in Intermediate usage such as Labtop and computer usage, and it only require min fitting height by 17mm. It's indeed a good alternative choice for those PAL users they want a higher-end PAL like Sola One, Physio 360, FD.. but couldn't afford to pay the price.

I would say Synchrony is a good fall back of those higher-end pal. But if patients were existing Sola One, FD, Physio users, i doubt that Synchrony can cope with the higher-end PAL.. Since those have newer lens processing method so called - free form technology- ,where Synchrony is design by prescription processing method. And Synchrony is also emphasis on where vision meet with nature, layman term as 'natural vision' I guess Sola segment their newest Synchrony (Design by Prescription) into Mid-End Pal level such as Varilux Comfort (Multi Design), as well as Hoya Summit Series.

Correct me if im wrong ;)
