anyone have any good/wise info for me?
I took the review right before the testing (not sure if they still give it in 3 parts) and had no problems. Good Luck....Gary
Focus your eyepiece.
During frame adjustment portion of exam put the pt frame on them. Don't hand it to them to put on. Its one of the things the voluteer is looking for other than a good adjustment. I normally take glasses off of a patient but rarely do I put them on the pt.
Go well rested.
Hopefully your prepared. Good Luck! It's not to brutal.

I highly recommend the board review offered by POF. It prepared me well for the state board exam, especially the computer based portion, and it was well worth the money. Also, they include the laws and rules class in with the review and you have to have that before applying to get your license. Practice your lensometry skills in the meantime and have someone check behind you to make sure your readings are accurate within tolerance. Read your Candidate Information Booklet which can be found on the FL Dept of Health - Opticianry website and make sure they haven't changed or added anything to the board exam. Good luck and remember, you do this stuff everyday, it's not rocket science.
Might want to wait until Summer, it may be a bit cool even in Florida to take you board. But at least you have plenty of time to apply lots of SEX WAX before either.

thanks for the awesome info everyone, I've been doing this for 8 years now working along side my father who is an optometrist so I'm hoping I do pretty good.
Study up on the law. If you are competent at your job, most of it is routine. The law portion on the other hand....
Here's the relevant info. Covers the statutes (Chapter 484) and the rules made by the board.

Laws and Rules are no longer part of the test it self. If your taking the test coming up you should already have taken a Laws and Rules course. Basically its a CE course offered at different locations.
I tried to find a link mentioning this but could not. I know POF and NAO offer the initial laws and rules course and it is also an on going CE requirement after being licensed. I would call the Board of Opticianry to clarify this if I were you.
