New program bulletin: Dispensing Optician Distance Delivery

Do your students live outside the lower mainland? If they are planning on taking the two-year Diploma program, they may take their second year courses online. Come to the campus just five days per semester. They may may also opt to do a combination of campus and online learning. For more information, contact 604-777-6407.

    Diploma or AAS Degree

    Dick,
I could not see that this program is COA acreditted or not, I will guess that it is not based on this. If this is correct, then students in the US should consider AAS degree programs delivered by schools covered by the COA. This could include education delivered through brick and mortar schools, online/apprenticeship or a hybrid of the two. The challenge of not having the COA backed degree is in several license states where schooling is a must, or where the degree can be used to eliminate some of the apprenticeship time needed in order to earn the right to sit for the state boards.

Good luck to the future opticians...
