    The New House!

Now that things are settling down a bit, I have time to post a picture of our new house in Glendale, AZ.

Here it is - all 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2200 sp. ft. of it! :D

So glad you and Marlena made it down there. Great looking house!

I'll have to take you, Marlena, and Jim out to dinner next time I'm down that way.

Hold off a bit...I'm not quite there yet!

We ran into a "deal" too good to pass up. I'd taken one car down there about a month ago. As I was arriving after a 2-day, 1808 mile journey, and while threading my way thru the neighborhood, I noticed a big moving truck conspicuous by it's lack of blaring colors and signage. As I passed, I noticed a small sign in the upper corner, "So and So Moving, Minneapolis, MN." Well, I had to stop. Turns out the guy runs to Phoenix every couple weeks or so and often has room in the back for private moves. It turned out mine was too big for him so he introduced me to an experienced mover who is dating his daughter. I saved about 50% but had to move stuff 12-27. He had room for about 2/3rds of our stuff. The next move is taking place next Wednesday. Loki (our 65# Standard Poodle who allows us to occuply his life) and I will drive down the other car. My wife will fly down on the 21st, hoping that I'll have everything unpacked by then.

Steve, I'm sure you'd reinforce this thot: If you don't have to move, DON'T! Particularly from a home with a basement and 14 years worth of accumulated junk.

    Steve,
Place looks great! Hope you both enjoy. I bet the climate out there is pretty hard to beat. And not to hard to take for that matter either. :)

I don't want to make anyone too jealous but I was working in the yard today in shorts and no shirt. The temperature is around 75 with blue skys and a slight breeze! :D

Don't feel too bad though. I still have to go through the infamous Phoenix summer that lasts about 7 months with temperatures over 100 F!

    Hot and bothered...:)

    So Steve,

Shorts and no shirt? That paints a picture I could have done without for the rest of my life :bbg:

Anyway, congrats on completing the journey.

Ah yes summer in Phoenix...I remember it all too clearly. I was 16 and we went on our oh so infamous family vacation. Actually my sister had a friend that had moved from NJ to Phoenix so we decided to go see my sister's friend and visit the Grand Canyon. Well my sister's friend took us to down town Phoenix for the 4th of July...one minute PARTY PARTY PARTY next minute EMT guy is over me saying MISS MISS are you ok??? I guess 130 degrees was much more than I could handle so I dehydrated and passed out. It was a fantastic trip despite that and the monsoon we got caught in going to Prescott. She took us to an awesome restaurant called Ed Debevic's (sp??) It was like going to Al's in Happy Day's. Is it still there? We also went to Scottsdale which was awesome. I wouldn't mind being there right now as TN is freezing cold right now.

Ahhh, but its a dry heat (you know, just like in a convection oven ;) ).

Really, its warmer there than it is here in the Floridian Panhandle! I love that tile roof (a lot of beach houses have those around here). Guess you'll be sporting a tan for Expo this year!

As for Darris in a speedo, oomph! :D

I hope you realize that by moving to Arizona, your chances of dieing from a strange flesh eating disease went up to 4 in 100000.

Thanks for that cheery thought Night Train!

The weird thing is that this happened several years ago to a woman in a town that I worked in while living in California. And before you say anything - NO, I'm not a carrier! :p

I got to thinkin' about this and thought I'd share it with you Steve,

It will take you at least three summers to become acclimated to the temperatures in AZ but once you do it won't be so bad. Take it from a West Texan where the temperature out here can kill people that aren't use to it :) Also I wonder if it's the same out in AZ when during the day it's 105 and when the sun goes down it's still 105? ;)

As to the "carrier" remark, I'd go get checked out if I were you. You could be a carrier of some dreaded disease. There's no telling what a person can pick up in California :)

    Take care,

    Darris C.

You're right about the summers. It's been 14 years since I've gone through an AZ summer and I'm definitely not looking forward to it. I think I'll just stay inside during the day in my air-conditioned office at home and send Marlena out for food and supplies! :D

P.S. The summer nights are hot too (>90), but it doesn't feel as bad when there's no sun blazing down. I'll do all my bike riding and excercising during the night.

Actually I've converted one of the spare bedrooms into a gym. It's actually pretty nice! What I meant was waiting for the night to do any outdoor exercising.
