My mother was an English teacher, and such things got pounded into my head. Repeatedly. That being said, I miss my firefox browser when I'm away from home (since it has a built in spellchecker.)
If you ever want a good read though, find the book "English is a Stupid Language." I borrowed (read swiped perminantly) it from her when she retired and it's always good for a laugh or two.

Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.

I've been told by teacher friends that some schools are not teaching cursive anymore.
