    Angry Question about security.

I recently have had a problem with some frames being stolen off the boards. I'm a small office and most frames are on rotating boards in the open... What are some of you doing to combat this and what security procedures do you have in place?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Keep your high end stuff locked up, keep your plano suns where you can see them clearly and don't carry the brands that the thugs come in asking for. Revolving frame towers are a thief's best friend. Just take whatever you want from one side then turn that side to the wall.

Make sure you have a clear view of your inventory from any point in the store. Crooks like to hide behind displays/towers/frame cases and do their thing. We have found out the hard way that even cameras in the store will not deter crooks.

Very good tips from everyone and ecp mag too!...some added thoughts.......outside of buyiing "locked cabinets for the entire store$$$"

realistically alot of doc's have their opticians multitasking: We need to sell and dispense/repair and help w.phones,etc...simutaneously.!!
my advice: plan peak times that there is always an optician on the floor-No Pt to be left alone rule"!!!
you may need to hire a PT-frame stylist to assist the optician...etc. (and people wonder why prices go up each year......)
(theives insist to be left alone.....!!! an honest person in need of glasses needs assistance!)

Corner mirrors +/or the fake dark/DOME camera's that drop into the ceiling tiles also help too.
(have the owner/doc only change batteries make sure the red light is always blinking) even the staff may think they are real.
(I am not a fan of the cheap/small fake motion-sensored camera mountings-even my kids can spot the fake ones.)
Mount a VISIBLE camera (qualityfake or real) in the parking lot--making it seeming visible to get car plate #,etc......and ensure staff safety.....
If you're being targeted that's a deterent before they even come in the store!!!

and sorry, we all hate to think of internal problems exists..
But to NOT make you the bad guy..address that you're concerned about their safety.
2 employees to open. 2 employees to close...always....no one leaves alone. this is good safety measure for your staff (as someone mentioned re:flat tire)
    (frame count every nite?)
if you have an after hours cleaning lady/person with their own keys....take them away and schedule them before/after or during non-pt.times when the staff is there.
