Welcome to Optiboards. You'll have fun. Rodenstock was so slow selling here, for all practical purposes it withdrew from the US market. Shame really they had some really nice frames.

Welcome to Optiboard!
Here Essilor dominates the american market.
We are in the midst of a debate over who has the best design of "freeform" or "custom" or "digital" or whatever you want to call it- newest progressive lens!
Keep reading this Forum and I would suggest for a few kronar ($?) a month joining the "Professional Forum".(Heiniken)
in fact in here we are selling most the lens like Hoya, Essilor, Sola & Zeiss. is depend on practise.. Rodenstock & Seiko run well in certain practise but not my place here. also some are using some local manufactured PAL.
Welcom to optiboards
We in TUNISIA we are using essilor lenses and independent laboratories make freeform lenses (optotech) there are also very good lenses.

Some of the more " creative " eyewear come from Denmark ( Fysh, Pro Design, Kliik, etc.)
We`re all curious to know what sells well in YOUR office.
:D Welcome to Optiboard!:D I agree with Chip, I really loved Rodenstock's frames. I would like to know what frame lines that you like and sell over there.
Ophthalmic Optician
Society to Advance Opticianry
its not the frames im talking about, its the lenses.
You will soon learn that everyone on this board has a bit of ADD and we tend to digress during these threads :D
As to the lenses, one that has not been mentioned yet is Shamir. They are a smaller player, but many feel they produce some of the best progressives, from their "digital" mold lenses called Creation and Piccolo to their true backside digital lenses, called the Element and Autograph II.
Hi John.
In Europe we call it different names.
Element= Autograph
Autograph II= Autograph Freeframe.
BTW.: I´m not sure about the Element. I think I read somewhere else, that Element was a standard version of Autograph?
Does someone here know the different between Autograph and Element since the Element is not used in Europe.
Thanks.

Welcome to OptiBoard. Interesting to know that Rodenstock and Zeiss are so strong in Scandinavia. Like to hear more.
ProDesign is increasinly run from San Fransico California where Lars Toftdahl is spending more of his time. Oga and Takumi are actually French (and unrelated to each other). Jai Kudo is British.
Funny how these things happen, this is truly an internation industry.
Sharpstick
We're in western Canada and Rodenstock rules in our office, both for frames and lenses:cheers:
Funny you think rodenstock is good frames, in Denmark we mostly sell them to people how is 65+ :-)
Best regards
Does that imply that 65+ year old patients do not receive good frames? I wear 2 of the Porsche frames myself, and don't consider myself a day over 42:cheers:
I would say the most common lenses used in the US are from Essilor, Zeiss, Shamir, and Hoya.
I usually try to keep the patient in the same type of PAL as they're currently using, unless I'm trying to upgrade them to a better lens.
(Example: Old XL/VIP to a SolaOne) I think we all have our "go to" lens that we can trust, but basically it all really depends on the patient's needs and the cost.
Here downunder its mostly dominated by Essilor and Zeiss.
It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.
Porche design is not Rodenstock its another brand and design.
Porsche Design frames are a 100% Rodenstock, it's a licensed product line where we hold the right to use the Porsche Design (design and label) to produce and sell frames. Similar to what we did with the Cerrutti 1881 line in the past and others do with D&G, Cavalli, etc. Porsche Design frames are available in the US through our distributor Tuscany Eyewear in Florida.
