As I see it, your talking about the China based company called SwissCoat.
They are, among others, using Shamir tecknology and Shamir semifinish.
Nothing to do with Shamir company and Shamir quality, only a semifinish factory.

YEP, incredible, just checked their website, this is a HK based company that uses the "Swiss" word for everything to imply high quality, even if the "company profile" suggest NO connection to Switzerland at all. (I´m not saying their lenses are necessarily bad, however!!)

And yes, they also use the Shamir markings and claim their design is based on "Eye-Point" technology!

    WOW, did not know that!

If you want the "real" Shamir quality you must buy from the Shamir factory. China can be okay, so if "okay" is good enough go ahead.
If "perfect" is your only option, go with the original factory with highest standard. -and avoid wastewater in the river, and no abuse of children.
I dont think this is relevant in China at all.

Precision progressive lens is from Swisscoat, they use freeform machine to produce the Precision series, The patent they use for freeform pal is from Seiko, all I know is a older version from Seiko. The lens is good when compare with short corridor conventional pal.

They have sport and daily version, both have different corridor length to choose, MFH of Daily will be 15mm 17mm 19mm. The Sport will have MFH 17mm 19mm 21mm which is longer corridor.

They also equipped with supreme coating which is similar to all those very smooth coating

Because they have their own freeform machine, so that they can produce safewear, polaroid, drivewear and traditional cr39 lens.

This factory first start OEM Sharmir lens almost 10 years ago, also the first factory start freeform lens production in HK.

Even the Autograph, they only sell 1 or 2 pair only !

    hope this help !

Now they are also service the Rodenstock Lens.

Hi Au, I will not at all doubt their quality, however, according to their own website

    http://www2.swisscoat.com/images/sto...rking_full.gif

it´s stll all Shamir markings and hence design!?

Interestingly, there is also a company called "SwissLens" (NO blank in name) located in Switzerland that makes contact lenses:

in contrast to "Swiss Lens Labs"

I said the Swisscoat is authorized disturbutor of Shamir in HK, They can help shops to order Shamir's Autugraph. However in HK only 1 or 2 pair of Autograph was sold in HK !

I think most shops are mainly sell the Essilor, Hoya and Seiko & Zeiss for high-end, Shamir brand name is loo low of popularity!
