I just checked with Essilor and was told this lens is available and not set to be discontinued at this time. I'm curious tho, where did you hear that?

Well, my lab rep (Essilor partnered lab) told me that it was very soon to be discontinued. I know it it no longer available in Trans. and now it is no longer an option in th Eyefinity pull down menu.

    My bad...

Yes, you are correct. The 1.50 and poly clear will only be available thru the end of April. I apologize for highjacking your thread and getting off subject.:o

May I suggest that you post what it is you like about the Liberty lens so others who may not have any experience with it might be more able to help you find what you're looking for? Good luck!

We have found it to be a great lens for emerging presbyopes and for the few people who don't really want an intermediate zone (they do exist). I would say 10-15% of my patient base wear this lens. My husband, also an optician, wears it and loves it. Sorry to see it go.

Liberty will continue to be available outside of the US tho if you want to source it. Still quite a big seller in Europe and Aus/NZ.

I don't know if you guys have BBGR lenses over the pond, they are a subsidury company of essilor and do a very near design to Liberty called the Aptive and over here it is a little cheaper too. I hope Liberty doesn't get discontinued in the UK, we love it here!

I'm too am looking for a replacement for the Liberty. We've used it almost exclusivly as a computer lens and our patients love it. We were told by our rep that stock would still be available through the end of the year, but the lab (Omega Dallas) just told us it is gone.

I have no idea what I'm going to do for this one patient who has raved publicly (he's a well known DJ) about his glasses. I would not want to lose this free advertising because we had to change his lens style and it's not as good as the Liberty (for his use).

Thanks for any help anyone has.

    At Last

At Last from Pixel will be the lens to replace it. It has a round 28mm usable area with a minimum ht of 14 mm. No peripheral distortion and has a 5' range, 2' range and full near in one lens. Great for those who refuse to adapt to a progressive and those that nead wider intermediate zones. Fit it 2 - 3 mm above the lower lid

I was thinking about the atLast but since it is so new there is very little real world experience out there. My biggest question is how do they deal with the aberrations caused by the two different materials they use for the lens? The design theory behind the lens is sound though.

For this particular patient it may work and may be a good test fit as well.

    Thanks!

    atlast

Fezz, one of my best accounts in NH tried it for her personal use and is delighted with it. Call me and I'll have you call her.

She has a VERY mild rx and has tried all the major progressives and she like the AT last better, but NOT for every day usage, just in the shop. She uses them edging.

It is a 28 mm round seg and you fit it to 14 mm minimum. Looks like an old TK with a large seg.

You will LOVE the SV product, thin as 0.85 mm in the center impact resistant and thinner than 1.74 surfaced in certain powers and cheaper.
