We usually run foam laps on 12psi (5056 and Acuity cyl machines.) We also make sure the water/ polish is flowing very well and it is aimed to maximize wetting of the pads. It is hard for the center of the lens to get enough liquid on wrapped lenses. We also crib them when ever possible for the same reason.

    Hope that helps.

P.S. Are you running regular 8 base lenses, or the specialty compensated wrap lenses ? I have had bad luck with the compensated wrap lenses.

The main reason some ECPs feel that their *compensations* on wrap Rxs don't "work" is that the original RX is not fully corrected for either infinity focus, Cyl power, or a combination of both.

To be successful at wrap Rxs, you *must* vet that the original RX is completely set for far focus, i.e., "not overplussed". Almost all Rx wrap compensations add "plus" power.

If you want less waves for your extreme base grinding use plastic laps instead of foam tools.

Good post - we do the same thing. Foam is okay for "normal" tools, but we've found it's not so hot for high curves.
