Job Description:
  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and ensure high quality customer service.
  • Maintain a continuous effort to obtain company objectives.
  • Create and maintain a retail environment that is fun, educational, and professional.
  • Ensure all visual merchandising is implemented and maintained.
  • Assist in dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses to customers.
  • Ensure all customer service complaints are handled effectively and efficiently.
  • Show and recommend frames and explain product features and benefits to customers.
  • Take optical measurements for customer eyewear.
  • Meet and/or exceed pre-established NVI sales goals.
Dispensing Optician sells and dispenses spectacles, contact lenses, and other vision aids or therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.

Responsibilities:
  • Answers the telephone and greets customers according to NVI guidelines.
  • Consults with and refers patients to the Optometrist.
  • Assists customers with selection of optical goods based on prescription written by Optometrist and individual needs.
  • Shows and recommends frames and explains product features and benefits to customers.
  • Takes optical measurements for customer eyewear.
  • Processes orders for eyewear via the POS system.
  • Transmits orders via POS to the lab.
  • Accurately receives payment for purchased eyewear, products, and services.
  • Coordinates the delivery of eyewear products to customers according to NVI guidelines.
  • Correctly operates equipment necessary to adjust eyewear.
  • Meets and/or exceeds pre-established NVI sales goals.
  • Helps to maintain the Vision Center’s appearance at all times.
  • Maintains the frame boards according to planogram.
  • Listens and responds immediately with an appropriate level of concern to all customers issues. Analyzes, solves, and corrects customer service issues.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings to keep informed of changes in the Vision Center and corporate policies.
  • Markets the Vision Center by passing out flyers, performing PA announcements, and participating in Business Builder events.
  • Reports unsafe or hazardous conditions to management.
  • Performs duties in such a manner as not to jeopardize the safety and health of themselves, fellow-associates, customers, the public, or the environment.
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned by a member of the management staff.
Job Requirements:
  • State Optical License / Certification required.
  • 1-3 years optical experience desired.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present and sell eyeglass features and specialty lenses.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work and interact effectively within a host store environment, adhering to and promoting all host store policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • In some locations, bilingual abilities desired.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time that may average 6-8 hours.
