Carl Zeiss Vision launches GT2™ Short by ZEISS in CR Clear and CR Transitions®
San Diego – (January 26, 2009) - Carl Zeiss Vision has extended the material availability for its GT2 Short progressive lens to include 1.50 Hard Resin and 1.50 Hard Resin Transitions® VI Gray and Brown. GT2 Short by ZEISS is a new short-corridor progressive lens that combines the OLA award-winning GT2 design with one of the smallest fitting heights available on the market. With a 13mm minimum fitting height—one of the lowest available on the market—GT2 Short offers patients superior optical performance in the full range of small, fashionable frame sizes—and now in a wider range of materials.

The unique GT2 Short design offers a continually widening near zone as the fitting height increases, unlike other short corridor designs that are optimized only in extremely small frames. GT2 Short offers wide, clear vision that is virtually distortion-free above the 180º line for truly satisfying distance and peripheral vision. The progression of power and astigmatism has been carefully managed for excellent control of wavefront aberrations throughout the lens, allowing greater visual satisfaction and outstanding ergonomic utility.

“The launch of GT2 Short allowed us to provide the precision of GT2 in more frame sizes,” said Claude Labeeuw, Carl Zeiss Vision’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Now we are able to offer that high quality to patients and eye care professionals in a complete range of material options.”

GT2 Short by ZEISS is also available in Polycarbonate and 1.67 High Index. As with the original GT2, the GT2 Short prescription range includes additional base curves, producing better optics and more cosmetically-appealing lenses. The lens is compatible with Teflon® Clear Coat, Carat Advantage™ and all other ZEISS anti-reflective coatings; and is available with Transitions® for the ultimate in comfort and healthy vision.
