    Male fashion categories

I think you can classify men's general attire/fashion sense in one of three catories:

    1. Formal/dressy
    2. Casual/sporty
    3. Trendy/edgy

...and I think you can tell by looking at the shoes they are wearing.

What kind of shoes do you wear?

I think that shoes, and eyewear, can be split between trendy and classic. If you buy trendy shoes, it might pay to buy cheap, since you'll have to replace them soon or look like an inattentive trendoid (worse than which it does not get). I buy classic, which means that I can afford to buy expensive shoes (which are also much more comfortable) since I wear them for years, resole and reline them many times, etc. Good leather just gets better with time. As with frames, if they cost 5 times as much, but last 10 times as long, you're money ahead and get to wear good stuff in the bargain.
