Disease related to Retina

I came across a disease which is related to retina or something in the eye. It can take place in various age groups. With this defect one can even get blind. One situation it can occur in those eyes who are having the power of more than 3 and that too in negative.
Can any one tell me the name of this disease.?? Actually i just came across the partial information..:(
