here is something you may want to consider. A few years ago, our copier was doing the same, our printer was being annoying, and our fax machine brought its own problems. We bought a machine that did all three. It really did not cost more, saved a lot of space, and made faxing and printing easier.
Do they even make copiers that don't fax/print anymore?
Some of the newer three in one's now even come with WiFi built in.
Stay away from BROTHER !!!
I only had problems with them...
As for few millions people around the planet, Google it if you don't believe me.
For just a few bucks more, you'll get better quality easily.
Not trying to be contradictory but my office has used Brother printers for at least 20 years. We have about six printers/multifunction machines and we use them heavily in a four doctor/four optician setting. Each one works for many years before replacement. The only problem I have encountered with them is they don't work well with refilled or compatible cartridges. You need to use the originals...which work fine and produce sufficient copies.
Anyway, on the issue of getting a new copier...it's always been my "philosophy" to not have a very good one. It seems like the better the machine is, and the more reliable it is, the more people use it...which is not necessarily good. And, whether you have a really good one, or a cheap one, the buzz around the office is always, "That da** machine never works right". So, I have always bought "disposable" copiers, inexpensive, low end, usually Sharp. But no one seems to be making these any more. Now for copies I am moving towards low end injet printers that have the scanner on top. The ink costs more than per page than for a regular copier, but the machines are dirt cheap and less complex. A low end HP Officejet should serve you well.

We got a reburb Canon Image Class copier. Working quite well and was dirt cheap. Like the duplexing!
As an employee outside of the optometry field, I usually do not post in any threads other than "Just Conversation" as per the rules of this board. However, I am in printing and I manage a fleet of 58 copiers for our campus. We have had great luck and great service with the Toshiba Brand. If you need more information, feel free to contact me.

Just a warning. I have an HP Deskjet 4140, All-in-one Printer
It sucks down the ink.
Recommend avoiding this one!!
