    Noisy chiller....

Hi all! I've got a Elkay chiller connected to my polish slurry bucket on my Gerber Acuity Plus polisher. Lately the polish is not very "chilled" and also the unit itself has started making an annoying buzzing sound while it is turned on. I am fairly new to surfacing so not much experience troubleshooting these things. Any ideas you might suggest before I call Gerber?? Some of the tubing running to the bucket is clear so I can see that the flow when turned on really doesn't amount to much. Also it doesn't look like antifreeze, maybe just plain water?? What should it be? T.Y. Chris.:)

It could be that the motor has gone. Can you feel if it is very warm/hot. Also it may be that a pipe is backed up or blocked. Try flushing the system with hot water (remeber to ensure it goes to drain and not back into the polish!)
Not sure if your system has a valve that controls the amount of polish being sent to the polish machines, this may be turned to close or off.

Good luck with the troubleshooting, it will always be the last thing you look for!!
It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.

You mean you don't have to mix the polish in a rubber bowl and apply it with a paintbrush anymore?

You might also want to take it outside and blow it out with some compressed air. Dirt can build up on the fan and heat exchanger causing noise and decreased cooling.
