I'm with Craig on the wheels from Super Abrasive! I have had them on my machine for about 2 months now and they are AMAZING!!!

More to the point, even if you figure that you can get 2500 cuts out of a set of blades. At 120 jobs per day, that still means changing your wheels every 3 weeks, not 2 months as was said above.
A lack of planning on your part DOES NOT constitute an emergency on mine!

today i had a lens rep tell me that some ecp's are using hairspray to stop slipping...a quick spray on the lens prior to blocking and it'll hold the lens securely due to its sticky nature...
Why do you think aqua net is still on the market. Its an opticians stickey glue.;)

    Hydro coatings

There are some leap pads out now that work with out the rikki pad .They are the secure edge plus pad also Zeiss has a new pad out I think it is the 51/21 A,B,C .You can also try the Dac hydro pad .

We tried the Secure Edge Plus pad on a -6.00 with -2.00 cyl and no Rikki pad and it rotated 10 degrees with our same usual cutting settings that never cause lens twist. And yes, we put the right side of the pad on the lens and the right side on the block.

Get some samples and try it for yourself, but I don't think they work.

I use the Optronics 7-E and the A.I.T Maxima speed and so far the secure edge plus leap pad has worked .Don,t get me wrong I like the rikki pads but some days I get 140 Zeiss foundaition Advantage coatings and if I can eliminate a step it does make it easier to layout .Do you clean your lens with alcohol before you put the rikki pad on?

Nope - we don't. Like I said, I encourage everyone to try it out with samples, but test it on some fairly inexpensive lenses with a slick coat. We'll stick with the Rikki pads for now.
