Big Smile Do you know or are related to anyone famous?

Thought it might be fun to find out!

My second cousin played bass guitar for Meatloaf for about 20 years and traveled all over the world.

I once sold a pair of sunglasses to Mr. Drummond (from Different Strokes)

    Anyone else want to play?

I have worked in a store that served Sly Stallone, Patty Duke, Tom Selleck, Doug Johnson from Lover Boy, Rip Van Winkle and Daniel Baldwin. Most were extremely nice..........Mullo

My sister-in-law is Angela Black, a broadcast media person in LA. My father grew up in Latrobe, PA and was boyhood friends with Arnold Palmer and Fred Rogers of MisterRogers fame.

I just helped a (retired) member of the Portland Trailblazers...can't remember his name....must be a sign of getting older....(sigh).

I had a college class with the "now" Kaye Malone (before she was married to Karl Malone...of the Utah Jazz) (and about the time she was Miss Idaho).

I also went to college with Chris Childs (of the Knicks).

Brent Musburger (I probably spelled THAT wrong) came into our office a few years ago because his glasses got damaged & he had a "hot & heavy" Oregon Ducks football game to cover.

Back in the 60's I made a new pair of sunglass lenses for Brian Epstein (Beatles manager). He had dropped his sunglasses getting off the plane. As a result, I got an autographed picture and 2 front row tickets to the concert.

Sat next to Morgan Freeman on a flight this year. Had a nice conversation. Also sat right in front of Shirley Maclain and chatted with her during the flight (different flights for each).

Friend of mine's cousin is Barbara Bach (married to Ringo Starr) and I met them through him.

When "Urban Cowboy" was in production, and my wife and I hung out at Gilley's, we met John Travolta (and his BIG bodyguards). My wife got to dance with him - had to listen to it for months!

    I am related to.....

    Great thread Caroline!

I am related to Gideon Welles who was the Secretary of the Navy in Abraham Lincolns cabinet. It was his decision to resupply Fort Sumpter in April of 1861 which was just the spark needed to touch off the War Between the States.Welles befriended Lincoln while he was running for president on a campaign trip through New England, and was an influential newspaper publisher in Hartford CT.I possess the Family Bible of one branch of the family and his picture hangs in my office as I write!

I've done my family genealogy and can trace my roots back to 7 of the Mayflower passengers. I've also traced it back to King Edward III of England. Of course once you hit royalty then you're related to all of them because of the inbreeding that was so popular back then! ;) Because of this Royal Inbreeding Program (RIP) I'm related to virtually every King and Queen in Europe prior to Edward, including Charlemagne and Alfred the Great.

My favorite ancestor was Pedro II the Cruel, King of Aragon, 1185-1213. That's one that I'm sure Darris can appreciate! :D

Oh, do you mean actual living people?

Our lineage goes back to William Wallace (hero of Scotland - Braveheart) on my fathers paternal side.

Anyway those people sure did fight a lot.

My younger son went to Gideon Welles junior high in Glastonbury, CT, where half the stuff in town is named after him. Does that mean we're related, Harry?

    Stick out tongue

My great grandfather's sister was married to Al Capone's first cousin!! Scary isn't it? We are also related to Fabian somehow. My grandmom has pictures of him at the family reunion. Not that most people even remember or know who he is now. That is about it. I'VE GOT CONNECTIONS...LOL!!!!

    Steph,

Yes, thank you very much, I DO remember Fabian. He was one of my favorite singers. Believe it or not, because I have a very young mother, she loved him as well, and I don't think he's that old. Saw him a few years ago at a fireman's fund benefit in Atlanta, (before it was so popular to have benefits for firemen). I went up on stage with him and danced with my husband (along with several others, but we were, of course the best), and at the end he kissed me before I left the stage.

    I hope so Robert!.....

I hope so Robert!....I may want to put a lab in my new office (something I SWORE I'd never do again) and I fell in love with the new Gerber patternless system I saw at Pearle in Hyannis.I KNOW a relative would get me a good price!:D :D
Steve, Please pardon the shameless plug....but we may be related.....and it was the least I could do for a distant cousin! By the way Robert, If we are related...that means that you are also related to ioconnell! You will have become an instant Irishman:bbg: best from harry
