I don't think anyone under a very mature 16 needs to operate a semi-automatic weapon. An automatic weapon has no place or purpose in the hand of any civilian.

I think MORE mature, well-educated eight-year-olds ought to be being taught the basics of gun safety and target shooting, however. I think every well-adjusted, intelligent, mature person should be taught basic self-defense and necessary hunting skills, with a firearm, by the age of 18.

If all handguns were named NFA weapons at that time, it's not too hard to think that there would still be a lot of people alive if the requirements to have a handgun were more stringent. It would be a lot harder to do massacres using only a knife or single-action rifle.

    It's happened again!!!

Maybe it's time for some government regulations.

Nothing too strong but perhaps 16 and older to fire automatic weapons?

The video is brutal. The child is way to small/young/inexperienced with the continuous recoil of a fully automatic firearm. The instructor just let her "have at it" with no physical help.

Rules and laws in this type of situation are not only put in place to try and reduce the chances of stuff like this from happening. They are also in place to make those that are/should be the responsible person in charge, be held accountable for poor judgement. Lets face it, we all have seen those that we wonder how they have made it this far in life. They are like a bull in a china shop. Somebody has to get that bull out before more damage is done.
Innocent bystanders ought not to have to pay the ultimate price for someones else's poor judgement. And a child or adult ought not to have to live with the trauma for the rest of their life knowing that someone is dead on account of a accident that they could have prevented by exercising wise decisions.
