Carl Zeiss Vision launches GT2™ Short by ZEISS
The 13mm fashion statement
San Diego – (October 22, 2008) - Carl Zeiss Vision announces the debut of GT2™ Short, a new short-corridor progressive lens based on the award-winning GT2 design. With a 13mm minimum fitting height—one of the lowest available on the market—GT2 Short offers patients superior optical performance in a broader range of fashionable frame sizes.

The unique GT2 Short design offers a continually widening near zone as the fitting height increases, unlike other short corridor designs that are optimized only in extremely small frames. And, GT2 Short offers wide, clear vision that is virtually distortion-free above the 180º line, providing truly satisfying distance and peripheral vision. The progression of power and astigmatism has been carefully managed for excellent control of wavefront aberrations throughout the lens, allowing GT2 Short to offer greater visual satisfaction and outstanding ergonomic utility.

“It is clear from the success of the original GT2 that the design delivers a very satisfying visual experience,” said Steve Koufos, Carl Zeiss Vision’s Vice President of Marketing, North America. “We are pleased to bring that satisfying performance to patients who prefer smaller frames. Between GT2, GT2 Polarized and GT2 Short, ECPs can now satisfy the needs of virtually any presbyope with a GT2 design.”

GT2 Short launched October 20, 2008 in Polycarbonate and 1.67 High Index, and is available in a wide base curve range, producing better optics and more cosmetically-appealing lenses. The lens is compatible with Teflon® Clear Coat, Carat Advantage and all other ZEISS anti-reflective coatings; and is available with Transitions® for the ultimate in comfort and healthy vision.
