    Love it!

I would love to give this a try! How extensive is the program to help us design the frames? With todays variables in material, color and textures that must be a very complex program. :shiner:

    Zyl pet peeve...

    What a droll idea!

I can't draw a straight line with a ruler and work undercover with countries to take down others internet by just browsing their web sites:shiner: --but here's my 2 cents--

I would love to see a zyl frame that adds 3 or 4 millimeters to the mitered end so we can file down that end to keep the temples tight to the head and not splaying out when an rx lens is inserted.

Also no spring hinges. Spring hinges are for the most part a gimmick that hides a bad adjustment imo.

Almost all of the old frames (AO, B&L, Shuron, etc) were made this way. Some had excess on the temple and others on the front, remember fronts and temples that were sold seperately? Of course the new, modern opticians(?) have never seen a frame that was really made right.

Sure, and then we would have to teach them what a zyl file is. And the those grooves in the rubber on the counter anvil would start to make sense also.

I'm thinking of a frame made with duct tape so if you have to fix it nobody will notice.

Alright it's a sunglass Harry BETA Version, I'm just getting wared up here, but it would be a diamond plate metal front with wood temples the lenses grey with a double mirror. Ok maybe a bit to intricate but that's what I got right now I will be workign on a few more designs. Oh, it's a video file I have images as well.

Alright here is one of the ophthalmic frames:
    1. olive front with forest temples
    2. light blue front with dark blue temples
    3. pink front with purple temples
    4. forest front with olive temples
    5. dark blue front with light blue temples
    6. purple front with pink temples
This way the temles and fronts can be swapped out and if the account wants to do that and make a solid color frame they would have to buy them in a pair. Sorry opticians just thinking like a frame company, oh and the HC logo on the temple could be left off, it's just there for posterity. :D I uploaded the image because it's cleaner, but you gotta download and watch the video in the compressed file it's a totally different experience.

    Harry:

Make the temples diamond plate and you may have designed what is actually the first truly unbreakable frame for children!

Love this idea. I want in. It's funny, I've actually been toying with the idea of designing some frames myself, even to the point where I've bought some frames and took my dremel to them! This sounds like a much better idea though! :D

Thanks it helps sell the sizzle. Here is number three, a ladies zyl I imagine toirtoise, dark caramel, and of course black. Two layered zyl with color on the front and white on all the backs. I actually show patients these as mockups when I am makign their frames it basically seals the deal, most the time they ask for the video to show people until their frames are ready. I haven't had annyone in over a year now so it was nice to have a reason to break out the cad skills again.

I made that design as a throwback to the late 80's early 90's I was a kid really into skateboarding and watched a movie called gleaming the cube, the kid had a diamond plate skate board, I think I must have gotten road rash for the next 5 years trying to hang onto car bumbers with my skateboard.

How is this contest going anyway?

Seems the OP lost interest rather quickly! It has been over a month since he/she has even checked in!

Maybe the plans for the grand prize winner is taking up too much time!

    :cheers::cheers:;)

The plan is still in production, some minor changes to be done on my side, but i am still working and i like some of the starting ideas.

I will come back to you all shortly.
