    Arrow Lens Crafters Prog

Does anyone know what type of progressive Lens Crafters uses? The website has their brand name on it.

I am under the assumption that it depends on what week and what deals are made to supply the lenses.

I have seen just about every brand from them.

I think they use the Essilor Natural. Although I do agree in saying I have heard several other types of lenses. :hammer:

It will probably depend on the store and region. I know they use a lot of Essilor's Ovation and Vision-Ease's Illumina. But, as always, FEZZ is probably correct that they have more brands they use than those two. LC does their own branding so you will not see these brand names, but the PAL identifiers will let you know what lens you have in hand.

I see a lot of Naturals come in from our local LC. Even if they have to fit them at 16!

Ovation and Illumina seem the most popular progressive choices at our LC store.

Ovation seems to be the lens of choice for most poly jobs. Illumina is used in polarized and 'Flextint'. Short corridor is Compact Ultra and freeform or 'AVP' is Shamir Autograph. At least in this neck of the woods.

When I worked there (briefly) two years ago, there was a Featherwates and Featherwates Plus. The difference was that one was SolaMax and the other was Ovation, which was really stupid because the idea was that one was supposedly more scratch-resistant than the other, but the lens designs were completely different. I found myself ignoring the scratch-resistant factor and selling the lens that would work best for the patient's needs (i.e. SolaMax for those who wanted a wider intermediate). For the photochromics they used Illumina.

So if a person gets progressives at Lens Crafters and is happy with the style they might not be able to get the same lens when they get new glasses in a couple of years?

A person could be fitted with the Ovation and then when they go back that lens is not available and they might be fitted with the Sola Max or Natural?

No. the progressives that we stock are the same ones we've had for at least the last 4 years. I know there have been additions

Typically they stick with just a handful of lens designs, and will do updates as new tech becomes available and slightly older gets cheaper.

Sometimes do to a combination of factors, such as RX, material, photo, etc.. they will order a one off to get the right combination of features for the patient.

    pal

We see allot of previous lc shoppers in our office since there are not to many opticals around us -
We alwasy check out what the pt's current pal design so we can get them in the correct design. It seems to change allot over hte years ( and i would imagine it is based off the deal they get on the lens - and not what is best for the pt however i have seen many pts come into our office recently - with

ovations & accolades as well as VE LIFE RX with the illuminia design- and if they had ar on them - shamir auto-graph or even varilux products.

as for the rx suns - all i have seen would be the accolade - EOS and outlook's

Here near me it's all ovation no matter power, seg, etc....We kinda of laugh because those of the people who wanted cheaper, went somewhere else and then can't understand why they can't see out of their lenses.

I tried at the mall of america to get an upgraded lens(shopping)and the person made a face and then I was told I "could" get an accolade and that it was very expensive.
