Using a US based buying group

Anyone Canadian tried using a US buying group for frames, lenses, CLs or other products? If so, have you had any difficulties with shipping time, border delays or other general headaches?

I am a member of the optical group....has some advantages. I wonder if we were to join an american buying group, if one would get access to some good ole southern product.
