why pd is important to be measure

Hello in my shop we make measurements of the patients for all patients. Only for progressive lens is pd used. For single vision lens we make lens in center in frame and then lens is thin. This is how you take good moneys for a high index but you use a plastic.
You must take measure of patient or they will ask why you dont measure.

We use a steel caliper, the kind you get at Home Depot and gently penetrate each cornea in the absolutetin center. It takes much practise to be get it right. Then of course, incidentally, and such to be use anesthetic principally.

I usually ask the consumer to turn around and let me see his/her butt. What ever size Levi's or whatever they are wearing, I get my calculator out and divide it by pi squared and always add 2 to the measurement.

What is up with that post???? Lol

    Actually It's not really important..

It isn't important to take a P.D. unless of course, the lens has some power. For all the rest you can skip it entirely.

    Think about it...

    Borysko thinks like our government.

Heck walk into any drugstore and buy a pair of +3.50.
If it gives you a headache don't wear them.
    Simple enough.

Maybe he can be appointed to the next open seat on the FTC?

Dude- Stick around-- I see big potential here!:D

I love cellophane lenses even more in progressives, mounted in 4 hole rimless mount. No need for edger, use scissors and a pin to make holes and they wont chip. :hammer:

The only problem with cellophane lenses, if you leave them on the dashboard in August heat, they turn from a 48 eyesize to a 60 eyesize. That is when someone comes back in and yells at you, "These are not my glasses", or even better, "I just took them out of the case this way!"

I guess it can be true. Oh well.

    Shenanigans 101

I think that when cellophane lenses stretch....you are really getting more *bang* for your buck!

You can take the now stretched *lens* and stretch it across the hopper and giggle with delight over the good times that are sure to follow!

Quite the opposite of some frame plastics. Logo had some plastic stuff you could wrap around your finger when cold, but if you heated it , it shrunk from a 60 eye to a 50 eye. No way to stretch it either.
On the other hand, you could put any lens into the salt pan with the frame around it and it would shrink-wrap itself around the lens.

Yep, I remember those frames. Once had a contest to see who could shrink to the smallest degree (uhmm, that didn't sound good). Over time, I got one pair to fit a pair of quarters. Those were what I called the "surprise" frames. If you didn't register what you were doing, you got "surprised"!

Borysko: Why don't you also cut all high cylinder lenses at 180* axis, this way you could make lenses thinner too.

It would be a lot cheaper if you just left the cyl out. Make them all spheres. You wouldn't have to stock so many lenses that way.
