    Is It True?

Is it true that VSP would not put an OD on their panel if they own a franchise store? So THat means that Sterlings, Cohens, Pearle and others can not take VSP even if they owned by the Optometrist?

In past years VSP did allow OD owned franchises to participate and even independent optician owned stores. I worked for both. I can't remember when that changed but they are real sticklers for it now. There have been some who have gotten around it by the fact that the whole chain was owned by an OD or ODs. And some others have disenfranchised themselves from the parent chain and have stayed on as independent panel providers for the chain's insurance groups.

About 7-8 years ago they stopped, I worked in an independent opticians practice that was a provider and all of a sudden they stopped and you couldn't even accept asighnment anymore.
