    Quarterly CL vs piggy-backing

All I need is a +6.50 -1.25 x 075 lens for a monovision patient. I can't find a disposable lens that comes higher than a +6.00 and he needs a bit more reading.

So right now, I've got 2 options; go with a Hydrasoft, or consider a +6.00 -1.25 x 070 Purevision Toric, piggybacked with a +0.50 Softlens 59 (I know the B&L products can be piggybacked- ie purevision toric with nike maxsite).

Has anyone had success piggybacking, or should I just stay safe and go with the Hydrasoft Toric?

    Try Xcel Contacts/Walman co.

Doc, we've had success fitting the Flex-lens Toric from Xcel. Although it's a quaterly replacement I believe, however they are MTO in nearly any parameter.
They have offices in Baltimore and Pittsburg.
    I hope this helps!

Piggyback seldom works in cases like yours, mostly due to patient motivation. In Keratoconus and other cases where piggyback is the best or only option it often works well, but for simple refractive error, the headaches associated with piggyback seldom outweigh the advantages in the long run. Even where initial motivation is high, it usually won't last. As Lmarie points out, there are other better options. BTW i never could get used to the term "piggyback" for such a clinical option, so I used to refer to it as "tandem" lenses for patients.. much more clinical sounding.

We do a lot with the hydrasoft torics and have had great success with them. Coopervision seems to have several options in their lineup that have made to order parameters. Most are quarterly though.

Westcon, and a few other companies also make MTO lenses.
