INTERNATIONAL VISION EXPO EAST SUPPORTS INDUSTRY CHARITIES
(Norwalk, CT, June 24) – The recent International Vision Expo East in New York featured the work of Brazilian artist Marcelo Cipis, who created the exclusive illustrations that inspired the Vision Expo East’s advertising and marketing campaign. In addition, Cipis was on-hand to sign special edition prints of his work with the net proceeds from sales to be donated to three optical charities including Optometry Giving Sight, Special Olympics- Lions Club International Opening Eyes Program and Unite for Sight. A total of $6000 was donated to the three charities so that each organization can continue focusing on their charitable efforts.

“International Vision Expo knows the importance of giving back to the industry,” said Tom Loughran, Event Director. “Reed Exhibitions and The Vision Council are pleased to be able to provide much needed financial support to these great charities. Our events provide a grand platform forum for these charities to spread their messages of good will.”

Optometry Giving Sight is an organization influenced by the needs of the 300 million men, women and children around the world who are blind or vision impaired by funding eye exams and glasses. Special Olympics- Lions Club International Opening Eyes Program is an organization that exists to teach and prepare vision specialists, including professors and students, how to better care for athletes taking part in the Special Olympics. Unite for Sight empowers communities worldwide to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness.

“The support given by International Vision Expo East will enable more Special Olympics athletes to receive the vision care they need and deserve. Special Olympics is thankful not only for the support by Vision Expo but the ophthalmic community for supporting this necessary care for persons with intellectual disabilities” says Paul Berman, Founder of Special Olympics- Lions Club International Opening Eyes Program.
