Opening on July 4th?

Of course will be open....................after the Canada Day weekend, which is equivalent to your July 4th.

We just closed for a full 4 day wekend including Monday and Tuesday July 1st.

Why on earth would we be open on a paid national holiday? Our owner would love it but I don't know who he would get to work. As it is we are going to be open July 5th. No takers for exams that day yet either. This is Michigan, people go "up north" when a holiday lands near the weekend. We already have sales way over last year this month anyway I can't see paying employees to staff an empty store, but whatever.

closed for the 4th. We would only be open from 8:30 to 1:00 on Friday anyway so why bother. A 3 day weekend is always a good thing!

We're closed Fri. and closed for our usual 1/2 day Sat. Mondays are my regular day off so I get a 4 day weekend!

I'm off. I have all federal holidays off. This year I took an extra day off, so its a four day weekend for me !

Maybe a rogue pike? Muskie? The only two times I came close to landing a muskie was once when I was reeling in what turned out to be an 8 inch yellow catfish, my rod yanked hard over, and it felt like there was nothing on the line, but it turned out the cat was running for the shore after being grabbed by a muskie. He had two razor cuts down his sides vertically about two inches apart. Must have felt the pull an released. The other time was at a small river here and we could see a beautiful four foot long toothy torpedo hanging under a rock overhang across the thirty foot wide river. Nothing we could do would entice him, even my ancient duckling lure. So we decided, sporting or not, to try to snag him with some treble hooks. First line cast over his body, a few flicks of the tail and gone.

Oh BTW, we'll be closed Friday and Saturday.

If you are open on a holiday do you get an additional day off or do you just get paid for an extra days work? If my normal day off lands on a holiday I take another day off for that week. Is that how it works? Do people buy glasses on the 4th of July other than an emergency?

I get another day off. My days off float, as I do work in a mall environment. So I might take a 3rd day next week, depending on how the schedule looks.

Amazingly, yes. People do come in for eye exams and glasses, and it's not always an emergency. Sunglasses usually prevail depending on the weather. But often it's simply a matter of time. sometimes its the only time they've got mom, dad and the kids all in the same place at the same time.
