    frame warranty

I am curious to know what type of frame warranty you offer your patients. Our office currently gives a one year warranty on frames at n/c. However we are considering making some changes and I am curious to know what other offices are offering. thanks

Give them the full warranty offered by the manufacturer at least! It's called being honorable.

We offer a 30 day warranty on materials at n/c. For a small fee the pt can purchase an extended warranty that is good for a year against any damage, breaking or scrachting of the frame or lenses.

We offer the patient what we are offered by the frame companies. No charges for shipping, no extra warranties to buy etc.

    I'll third that. . . !

The office I work in offers a 2 year 1 time no fault warranty. I thought she was crazy, but the warranty work is running at about 3%. I love it because there are no more fire fights on the floor!

offically we offer one year warranty on all our frames, but if patient comes in with broken frame between one and two years originally purchased, we call the frame company while they are there, and if they offer a 2 year warranty we give that to them. We now look like a hero to the patient, going that extra mile to help them out.

    VERSUS

    Two year unconditional warranty
If the supplier gives one year...............the opticians that give 2 years unlimited might have to eat some abused frames after 18 month of wear.

Question: why do it.........and for what reason ?

One year manufacturer's warranty against defects. But we also tell them that we will fix anything we can and only charge them for parts needed. I have never had anyone fight about it because they realize it's a normal warranty like you get on most consumer products.

because our customers really respect the fact that we understand that people make mistakes (breaking glasses) and are here to help them.

With the falling economy that you always are cheering for, customers find it a relief that they are guaranteed to have the product for two years.

There is nothing to cheer for, nor about................it is called warning about some hard times to come and be prepared for them.

And if giving a 2 year full warranty on the whole job, with no questions asked, is your solution to float comfortably over a recession period, all the better for you.

I just had a neighbor converting new vans for wheelchair access, for which he gets $ 30,000 per van from the Quebec government, going belly up 2 weeks ago. He had signed contracts for 15 van conversions over the next 2 month. Just learned yesterday that all jobs they did, had a 3 year full warranty which simply expired with the bailiff and trustee locking the doors.

Wow! I would love your customers. Our return rates are 10%.
We also do it because it isn't good business to fight with your customers.
