Frames Data CD questions for those who are or have used it...

Our office manager is looking into switching from the Frames Data paper book to the CD ROM.

Is it true that any time you want to look up any frame info you have to run the CD?

Can it be run on networked office computers?

Is the information in the book the same as what we get on the CD?

Do they have pictures (B/W or color) of the frames?

We do mostly board management so is it practical to use and is a sku scanning system for inventory available and how do you like it?

What other things did you like or not like using the CD vs. using the book?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

We just run it off the internet with an account number and password, but have the CD's AND the book for backup. My doc is a packrat.

As far as I have been able to tell, the CD runs everytime we search, and we cannot get it to run on our networked computers. There are pictures of the frames, (excluding the discontinued ones), but only in one color. The pricing info is the same as in the book.

The cd sucks. When we used it , it did not have pictures, which IMO is an important part of the info. We tried the cd and then went back to the book.

It can be run without the CD, using Daemon Tools.

It has been many years since I had frames data on CD, dropped it only on account of addittional costs.
But when I used it, it was wonderfull to tell it things like look up all frames with 12mm or less bridge, or everything in over 56 eyesize. The time saved flipping thought the book and dearly miss the CD.

Hi All, I am also seeking a FRAME FACTS or FRAMES DATA price book from the mid 1990's (any year and any quarter). I am willing to pay $150 for it. Please send email toDrRobert@eyeworksgroup.com if you can help. Thank you!
