If you know that your next door neighbors are getting divorced, how does that affect you?
If you know that your next door neighbors are getting divorced, how does that affect you?
Unless the wife is hitting my car or my house with her husband's stuff as she throws it out, it doesn't.
Any one ask how sill these three threads are. One might ask how does murder two doors down hurt you? If not why do we pay any attention when someone does it?
I have to agree w/chip..These latest threads are redundant....The question is do these problem physically harm you? Can the effects trickle down to you...
Why no just get rid of the laws, and everyone can do what they want...that's what these threads come down to...

About 8 years ago my husband and I lived in an apartment (3rd floor) and heard screaming coming (mid day) directly across us via the 1st floor. We called 911 ASAP to get whomever help as soon as we heard it. Before 911 arrived a gun shot went off.
Screaming was the wife begging her husband not to shoot himself.
Does it affect you?
Yes it did. For quite sometime....
srry drk about being off divorce topic but....
Only if you were the reason his folks got divorced! :pWithout two parents, the kid's might steal my lawn mower or egg my house.
It doesn't. It is their private lives, just like with gay marriage :)
But aren't we all "interconnected"? Aren't we a "global society"? Doesn't it "take a village"?
Or, are you all a bunch of Ron Paul libertarians?
I am definitely not a Ron Paul Libertarian, but I do believe in individual freedoms.
Either way, if we are a global society, neither of us should cheer for our neighbours to be miserable.
If my neighbors divorce, more than likely she will get the house. This could lead to problems.
It will affect me as she loses control of her lawn, the insects and weeds will take over before she brings in a lawn service. I will have to monitor my yard closely for collateral damage.
Maybe she will have a boyfriend in time to straighten things up and restore the lawn before the homeowners association comes down hard for not keep up appearances.

Jim,
She could have a female companion and maybe a second at the same time, which leads us back to...invasion.
Seen it happen.
I have never divorced, nor were my parents divorced, so I have never been directly hurt by divorce. I do believe that a single parent home is not the best environment in which to raise children, and that often one or both parties of a divorce are financially and/or emotionally "damaged" by divorce. Divorce offends my ethics. But I don't believe there should be a constitutional ammendment prohibiting it.
...Just ask me...
My parents divorced when I was 2.
I completely and honestly believe that it was the best thing that happened to me. Did it make things trying at times? Of course. My father moved back to Mexico when I was 5 and I saw him only 3 more times during my childhood. Being in another country, there was no child support and mom only had a high school education.
But it kept me from being raised by an alcoholic womanizer.
Yeah, Divorce can suck, but it can also be a decidedly good thing for all parties involved.

My parents divorced when I was 17. How it hurt me was that then I had to make a decision as to which one I was to live with. Both parents campaigned for my decision, and I had a lot of fun with my mom, and a lot of problems with my dad, but in the end I stayed with my dad. Then as soon as I was legal, he kicked me out of the house.
Got me into optics that way.

I have enough problems of my own to worry about others petty squabbles. Just don't throw stuff at me or my house and stay off my yard!
Really I am quite a fun guy......
