Andrew, In New Zealand we've had the Multigressive and Multigressive II available for quite some time. The new Rodenstock Freesign lens is another winner in the line-up. With the spherical front surface design, this lens is wonderful for people with a high cyl. It appears the Multigressive series works with a standard set of measurements - roughly 30-32 monocular pds, pantoscopic tilt of about 13 and bvd at 12. The Freesign is able to take on measurements outside of the norm, and is able to be adjusted for assymetrical PD convergence. It's a winning set of products, but very high priced for our market. I use the lenses often, with Hoya ID, and Essilor Physio 360 and the Zeiss GT2 3D or Individual designs as well. I don't think your clients will be disappointed with the new lens designs available from Rodenstock.
Hi MarySue do you have the software from Rodenstock ? It is to show the different design when we put on the pt. Rx, It help us to explain to customers how much usable area in the lens in different design.
You see lots of pictures from Bobbie is from the Rodenstock software.
Hong Kong will start MyView in September, expected to fit the lens because will have 3 corridors to choose and flexible to choose the frame and lesser restriction.

Thank you Au, I use the Rodenstock Impression consulting software whenever it's available. I work as a locum D.O. and travel quite a bit. My favourite practices are the ones that allow me to choose the best product for the patient. I am getting the software for my laptop to carry with me. It's good stuff!
:) Thanks for the recommendation though - had I not known, I would have been blown away. As for Bobbie, I often read through his posts and find them very informative. Optiboard is a great medium for learning and sharing info. imho.

Hi MarySue, how about the Impressionist machine ? Have you ever see it before or do you have the big machine yourself ?
Because the machine can measure the height segment pd for the customers, if you like technology, you may like it !

Au, Because I am a locum - which means I travel the country and fill in for other D.O.'s on holiday or parental leave or whatever - I get to use a huge cross section of equipment. I have used Zeiss' machine like the one you descibe. I've never seen one by Rodenstock - but then there is a first for everything - thanks again. I'll be on the lookout.

Rodenstock Multigressiv MyView is good lens
But I don't like Rodenstock Lens.
Because
1. Anti-refection is not good (Crizal Alize or VP coat by HOYA is better)
2. Transition is bad ... Color is not more dark
3. Rodenstock can not make very thin lens (for plus power)
IN THAILAND if can not make very thin lens (for plus power)
the customer will not BUY.
If news lens thicker than old lens in neary same Rx. Customer will reject it.
The Rodenstock lenses I use come with a Top Coat - these are better than the older Solitairre version. Is that available where you are?

You known the color of UV protection of Rodenstork look little brown ...
It look bad when compare to the other.
In THAILAND TOP COAT and Solitairre is difference price.
TOP COAT is higher price than Solitairre.
and UV protection ... Rodenstock charge higher price than Essilor or HOYA

I known because my client tell to me ... not everyone BUT 90%
He say... old lens is better because new lens is easy to scartch.

Right on all counts mate. The Rodenstock coating is the worst for a premium product on the market today, and here in NZ - the Freesign is retail 3x the price of an ID - which is a great lens.
It's difficult to wsell a product that is almost $600-700 higher than anything on the price list, but when you are sure the design is the best for the client - no worries.
As far as scratching goes, I tell all my clients that any lens can scratch - although the SFT by HOYA is the best coating I've seen for resisting scratches. Coatings are a finish to a very specific and expensive tailor made product. Who in their right mind scrubs them 5-10 times a day with vigor? Tell your clients to care for their new lenses like they would the finish of a new mercedes benz, and you won't have troubles!
Good on you for thinking for yourself, and believing your clients.
