Transitions recently came out with a new variable tint lens called Splitz. Has anybody started dispensing these lenses? How has customer response been? Anybody know what makes them tick?

AZ, only pair I done is for my daughter, she likes them, but she has clear ar lenses and polarized lenses also. Don't know what makes 'em work, but they're not for everybody. i'd have sold some if they were available in a pal. Al.
Steve or Darryl probably have the better answer being it's their baby :) but I would think it works like tinting a lens.. you know that mixing certian base colors you get a third shade...
I would think that you have a "neutral" color and the ones that become activated by UV is another shade... say you had a yellow base and then an activated color of blue the end shade would be green when it active...
Well it seems logical to me.. but who ever thought "optics" were logical

Terrific lenses, we've had the samples a week or so, everyone loves them...... but sales..... nothing so far, patients aren't taking them seriously.... too much of a novelty it seems, but it is early days.
I just got my own pair 2 weeks ago and I really like them although I wouldn't wear them everyday. Being the ultimate salesprincess I have 5 pair in my current RX with different types-Trans Xtra, Sun Sensors etc so this was a nice addition to my collection. I have the blue/green w/ Zeiss AR and like the way the green works outside. The response from my accounts had been really good. They see them as kind of a niche product but so far they have all been fired up about selling them, Give me a few weeks and I'll give you a more definitive answer as to how they are really selling out there.

Hey Optiboarders!
I have sold 2 pairs to date. Both SV RXs. I agree that we could sell more if available in MFs. It may be a novelty, but I hope that Transitions looks into other markets. I was told that this particular market was primarily targeted to teens with a few extra pennies in their pocket. Curious what you are charging for lenses cut in SV.

$125
We're selling them strictly as a second pair. Buy a complete pair, get Splitz for $99 including frame (inexpensive little plastic jobby). Just want to get people talkin'. Sold at least 8 or 10 so far and a few people have upgraded the frame. Haven't sold any as a single pair, but if we did, would price at $129 + frame. I like 'em. Somthing fun to talk about!
PS The Zeiss Cool Blue coating looks great on all 3 Splitz!
Lenny..........Is that a plano price or surfaced sv? Curious. I just paid under $50.00 for plano cut in a Limited Editions Zyl and almost $89.00 for sv edged for the same frame. We are retailing the plano for $130 and the sv for $160. That includes the frame.
