I don't recomend it, but they can be used. Just be very careful and watch for seperation.

We do it. Just order the lens surfaced with a wider edge and set the groove forward a bit.

Since the lanimation line is near the front, why set the groove forward? Logic would say to put the goove back behind the lanimation line.
Of course this would probably make the front a little less attractive.

i'm with chip on this one. i always move the groove back, and will make the lens a little thicker if it is necessary to be able to move it back. and i let the patient know what i'm doing, why i'm doing it, and how it's going to affect the appearance of their specs. i do this because as the temples are torqued they will move the interliner like a lever and apply stress to the laminated layers. more base substrate to act as a buffer for that stress = less chance for delamination. also, for drilled i always advise against it. i'll do it, but not without the 'you've been warned and we won't remake it for free if it does what i'm telling you it might' speech. that being said, i have done it with successful results. the key is to be really mindful about 'padding' the lens. i.e. extra bushings for drilled, not sized too big for grooved, etc...

bottom line, i make my best effort to educate the patient as fully as possible and leave the final decision up to them. it's their money after all, and if i did my best to put them in a position to make an informed decision, i don't feel like i'm unjustly taking any body's money.

We use poly polarized with no issues!

We are in Florida and do 95% poly polarized and a few 1.67 polairzed for a high minus. We groove towards the front and almost never have a seperation issue. We groove on the edger and try to make the groove as shallow as possible to avoid the white line look.

You groove less than 1/2 the diameter of the chord and all your lenses will fall out repeatedly. Groove should be at least 3/4 of chord diameter.
