    Pro Design BO

I'm bringing Pro Design in as a new line and I haven't ordered from them in a while. Out of a 51 piece order I got 33. The rest I assume are on back order, although my invoice didn't say. I don't remember them having this type of problem with back orders. Is this normal for them?

I also don't order very regularly, but everything I try to get is on B/O. Can't help with an answer, but its been going on a few months.

The only stuff i recall having a problem with was the Alutop pieces from a couple of years ago.

I haven't had any probs with the Prodesign being on along back order. I can't keep their Gail Spence pieces in stock. Patients tend to love the interchangeable temples.

Same backorder problem. Our rep warned us about it when we placed the order.

Well, as soon as I posted this the FedEx guy showed up with a box from ProDesign. Four frames off backorder. Yours may be coming soon, too.

The serendipity reminds me of years ago, when I used to smoke cigarettes and lived in Boston. We could smoke on the platform but not in the subway car. Every time I'd light up on the platform, I could be sure a train would come in. Worked like a charm.

Sounds about right. About 20% or so of what i order in comes in B-O at different times. They DO seem more prone to it.

It used to never be this bad. I find myself getting stuff from my rep's bag when a B/O situation happens. It does get old after awhile though.:shiner:

It's weird, besides my own company it seems that alot of the opticians here are experiencing heavy backorders from most of their other vendors as well. A very seasoned optician told me that Jan, May-June and August are the worst. Jan. for Chinese New Years, spring for another major chinese holiday and August for the european mfgs since they take the whole month off....

Send them a jar of deodorant and tell them to fix the problem or you payments will be as late as the orders.

    I've heard that as well.

Do you think that with the economy down, suppliers might be stocking less, nad ordering more on a "just in time" basis? (although it's not on time).

I would think the opposite. You'd think that the shelves would be bursting, and they couldn't wait to get the frames out.

Or....maybe the economy is not as bad as the media has us believing?
