Hey Kirk, you're right! What a joke of an optician would post such drivel (3 years ago)... That's as bad as, as...well, telling a patient to clean their glasses with sandpaper! You gotta watch this Johns guy...He was trying to sell shares in the something called a "FezzJohns Beer Slide" a few years back.
It 's amazing how jokes and sarcasm here can be missed.
That post was both ages ago and clearly in jest. Johns is/was one of the better opticians and smarter businessmen this board has seen. And one of our favorite humorists.
We're not all a bunch of rookies.

Yeah, it's often easy to miss things from the top of that high horse.

Sandpaper? don't be silly. If you are gonna try to clean the scratches off lenses you gotta use 000 steel wool. One of my knuckledragging customers stormed into my shop in Jersey City, and threw his glasses on the table and started to yell and scream at me.
I calmly told him he should have tested his procedure on just the right lens first to make sure it worked. Needless to say he had to buy a pair of lenses . I gave him the standard "This story is priceless discount"
Money carefully refunded
My favorite quotation from a customer after simillarly trying to buff out scratches. "Well if I didn't think it would work I wouldn't have done it. That would have been stupid."
Congratulations for being licensed over a decade..................which does not mean that you had to pick a 3 years old thread, address a member that is gone for over a year and insult this site we all love and appreciate.
......and yes progressives where full of distortion in 1958 and still are and prove that the word progressive means also distorted.
Uh Kirkpatrick, Your not upset at us because you took Jons statement seriously and tried soaking a pair of lenses in acitone did you? :hammer:
Really Kirkpatrick, This is a great site to be a part of and contribute to those who are skilled but need information or for those who are at the beginng of there career in optics. I am certified but there is no licensing in the state of Texas. I have 28 years in this industry both lab and Opticianry. Everyday I log on to this site and alot of these people amaze me with there wealth of knowledge and run circles around what I have learned, Johns being one of them. You have become a part of a great site, collectively we help each other. Sometimes we just like to let loose and have some fun.
KK- FWIW-- You really should avoid any site that will have me as a member. :)
Bart Smith, continuing to be awesome since 1982 so that you don't have to.
Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.
On April 28th, I'll be marrying my best friend. I can't wait!
Yes they are. That is why I switched a patient from definity to Zeiss Individual and asked her how things looked. Mind you, this patient was switched to Definity due to previous problems adapting to other progressives. She looked around and read a little bit and finally smiled and said "everything is so clear." Yes, all progressives are the same.
Wow people.......If you notice that was only KKirkpatrick's second post since joining in June of 2010.....think we might of been a bit to harsh? Awwww hell no ;-)
