    How to use it

I was wondering what the proper use is on business cards and resume. I am ABO certified and just recently graduated with my AAS in opticianry.

    Please help.

    Thank you optiboarders.

You put your AAS under education and ABO under education or:

    Anja "Smith", ABOC

    I think it should be:

    Anja A.A.S. ABOC

The academic should come first, as mine is:

Jacqui M.S.N. M.B.A. RN CNM CADC ABOC

I just love long titles like that, ...........................it always describes very smart, rich or famous people. You are missing the Ph.D or is it still in the coming ?

Or you could do what I do - I have N.A.O.L. in my signature. I'm surprised no one has asked me about it, durn it. A good joke carried on too long.
It stands for Not Any Official Letters.:D

I caught a lot of grief (for awhile) for not having my last name on my card.

It just had the logo of the company, phone #, address, and my first name.

I could put the alphabet in there, but unless you work in the field, nobody knows what they mean, and if you do work in the field, nobody cares.

But John, I care, I'm proud of my little accomplishment and happy for everyone else that has done something for themselves or with themselves or out of themselves, which ever way you want to turn it.

My big dream of my own optical did not come true, so I had to do something else instead of being sour and blaiming life. Still trying to figure out what something else is / will be.

Anyways, thank you all for your input, I like the A.A.S. ABOC and every once in a while I turn in to a plain A.S.S. Optician ( hope I can say that on here)

Used to know an old optician that had a shingle out front that said:
Howard Underwood, DpO. Made folks think he was important anyway.

I'm happy for you as well. I just think that titles, labels, and whatnot are overused.

I guess I'm just happy enough to have

"John , BA, AAS, NCLE, ABO, ISO9000, King of My Optical World"

Embroidered above the pocket of my pajamas. (I need the pocket to hold my golden PD rule)

The title really turns my wife on!

In this case I am happy for you too.

I agree with titles being over used, but heck why not use them if you have them and they can help you get what you want or make people that don't know think you are something, right.
