    Lens storage system

    Hi,

I have just started a lab ( <1yr) and store all our semi-finished lenses in
boxes on shelves. Is there some more efficient way to store lots of
    blanks compactly?

I put in "spice drawers" from Home Depot .. they were one of the options when I installed new cabinets (myself).

    Angry Lens shelving

You can buy one of those automated rotating shelves for umpteen thousand dollars. That lets you scan the bar code for the tray# or the work ticket and the lens comes to you! That only if works if you do data entry before pulling stock.
We wanted to hire a person with a workers' comp injury and permanent disability. The return-to-work program could pay for one as a jobsite modification. Unfortunately, the person wasn't hired for other reasons, so we need to think and do it all by hand.

Contact Glenn Fluegge or Pat McCoy both are members here and may have some used cabinets. I found some regular lens cabinets that were barely used for about $500 each (new $2000 - 2400) You can also check with Opticlabrat, another member.

Try this link above. I have a few of these stacked up for my finished lenses, but it should work for semi-finished too. Each one will store a couple hundred pair of SF lenses in 10 rows. They are heavy duty and the price is right.

I looked for like a year before we put our cabinets in - wish I had asked here first! :)

Would it be possible for you to suggest an update link or alternative to the product you referenced here? I am trying to find a solution for storing lens blanks.
