Would like to buy an engraver that will work on both plastic & metal. Also extra fonts.

Our pantograph engraver does both metal, Zyl, and I have also used it on wood. I think I paid around $2400 about 5 years ago with all the things to start with and an extra set of fancy fonts. It's probably paid for itself by now with charges for temple name engraving, and lens engraving.
Don't waste your money on the optical adapter unless they changed things in the past few years. We found it a lot easier to use two $5.00 spring clamps from a local hardware store.
They also have reconditioned units from time to time which can save you a few sheckles.
Hope I've helped
Kevin
I can custom build you a computerized engraving machine which will engrave any font and graphic. The unit has 4 axis and will engrave any unusual surface even on a perfect round temple(R axis).
It will also CUT any lens shape/size pattern as you create for rimless jobs.
$9,500 firm. Software and training manual included.
On the other hand, I would strongly recommend you to use the silk screen "printing" process because engraving will DAMAGE frame surface. It is a super nightmare for me to do re-polishing, plating, and spray painting RIGHT AFTER engraving.
