    Wave Prescription online

I have had this site drawn to my attention, It allows you to store your prescription online so you could access it from anywhere in the world.
Now do you think this is a good idea or do you think otherwise.
Would you consider using this service yourself ?

    Hi John,

Well of course I had to have a look at the site but it's not too clear to me whether this is for private individuals or for optometrists to register patient's details.

I don't really see what the guys in St.Albans get out of this, apart from a database of email addesses which could possibly be used to bombard you with even more junk emails.

Perhaps they are going for the Guinness Book of Records. 'The largest collection of spectacle prescriptions in the world'.

I hope I'm wrong and that there really is a use for this, but if we're into registering personal data that can be accessed from anywhere in the world, why not also include Passport # ID # VISA # Driving Licence # Bank details, Blood Group, Pants and Shoes size, Wedding anniversary date, Address Book... in fact the lot and have it all on a secure site.

    BTW, I didn't register.

    Have a good one..... Clive

Not too sure myself. Though i think it could work both ways.

Well the person who has set it up is a UK Optician.
who has a couple of other sites
    retrospecs
    and roope.co.uk
so i would not expect to recieve spam from them (could be against the uk data protection act) as well

I also had to have a look and noticed it is free to record your RX. But does this mean that perhaps you or someone obtaining your RX from their database will have to pay for the info provided?

The company info appeared quite vague to develop an understanding of its purpose.
