    Why not? How many late night infomercials have you seen for medical billing, or transcription? Their are plenty of schools that coud market our trade just right and their would be better tained optician on the marke then ther is right now.

    90 Hours? What's that? A three week course? I suppose it's nice that they're offering it, but you might as well just find a good Optician to work under for that short amount of time. I know it's easier said than done, but it just seems awful short.

    College: Greenville Technical College Buck Mickel Center
    Course: Dispensing optician
    Date: May 5-Aug. 8
    Time: Day classes -- Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to noon
    Evening classes -- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 6-9 p.m.
    Clinical externship: July 28-Aug. 8 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Location: Healthcare Training, Buck Mickel Center, Room 119
    Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED
    Tuition: $710 plus $40 clinical fee and $29 for HIPAA privacy training
    Textbook: System for Ophthalmic Dispensing, available at the Greenville Tech bookstore for about $115
    To register: Call 250-8800, go online at www.gtbmc.com or come by the Buck Mickel Center at 216 S. Pleasantburg Drive.

    Not many options in the US, so it's nice to see when new ones open up, I used to give the short programs a hard time, but it seems the larger schools weren't what I thought they should be.

    Hey Harry !!! All is forgiven...

    And so can I now assume that our BC College of Optics training will no longer be derided as the 'short' program? I can now describe us as the
    'mid-length opticianry program alternative':cheers:.;)

    Depends did you get rid of the short bus? I kid, I kid, yeah maybe I gave you a hard time for nothing, if you want to PM me I'll give you some details as to why I have changed my mind and it ain't pretty.
