Even if you have a tinting system, I strongly recommend trying this out.

I used to do a lot of RX sunglasses. I had very little time on my hand. Basically, I had to come in for a two hours, edge 10-20 jobs, and have to take care of tinting. I could tint five jobs in an hour (while I edged). That include preparing the lenses for tinting, UV treatment, tinting, letting them cool down, mounting and verifying the RX.

This process is amazing. When you can stick a pair of lenses in the microwave and have them come out to a black or brown 90, it really made me glad I got rid of the smelly, messy, long process of the dye pots.

    Hi
Question: With conventional tinting when there is a difference in the batch of lenses you will get a different shade/darkness does this still happen with micro tinting?
    Thanks!

You do have to watch what lenses you use, but within the lens group results will be consistent. So if you use True Tint for stock single vision, all true tints will tint the same. But a true tint compared to an Osa lite will tint differently. My main understanding with that is that it has to do with the SRC coating.

So if you are getting lenses surfaced from Essilor or Zeiss or whoever, as long as they use the same SRC (which they always do) the coating will be identical.

Yes......when lenses will tint differently they will also with the MicroTints.
The tinting is the same as conventional............with the difference that it is 100 times faster, non toxic, no fumes or smell, the dyes last forever and you can tint a apir while the customer waits.

I gotta say I use the Grey that was sent as a sample to try out with another purchase and I thought it would be cheesy with the tubs it came with and everything, but was pleasently suprised, I didn't replace my tint tank, but the majority of my jobs that require a grey 3 go right into the microwave and are done in about 2-3 minutes, not bad, but when I get 5-6 suns with a grey 3 done in 10-15 minutes that's when it gets impressive, the more you do the more drastic the difference between a regular tint system and the micro tints. We can do full out dark suns in less than an hour, most of our patients are impressed with that and so am I. I might just get in the brown and a G15 and offer these tints at my regular tint price and use the tint pot for my other tints and just do them for $5.00 - $10.00 more.

If you like G15, try the black. Will match the grey lenses in the sunglasses to 100%.

I also like the sun brown over the regular brown, but I know Chris prefers the regular brown.

    All personal opinion.

    Custom colored tints

I want to start making custom tints, with 2,3 colors all gradient. Is this mainly for solid tint sunglasses, and is there any other system that might work better for gradients that isn't 30 years old? thanks, Tim

    Redhot Jumper Gradients..........................

Usually we do negative gradients as the lenses tint so fast in the microwave.
This means you tint the whole lens and then dip it into neutralizer and remove the unwanted portion.

For CR39 only you can bring the dye to a boil and remove from microwave and the use the dipper. this will give a nice light gradient.

    Thanks Chris!

I appreciate your responding Chris. If I may ask, how long does it take to lighten the tint on poly (rougly) at the bottom to do the negative gradient tinting would you say, and is the neutralizing different than a regular tinting method? Thank you very much for your expertise! Tim Hennings

    Blue Jumper Long lasting dyes................

Yesterday a customer gave a repeat order for a bottle of black. He had bought a starter kit that came with 5 colors in September the most used one was the black color that lasted 8 month of use.

You not only tint faster, healthier and get all types of lenses dark..............but the colors just last and last.

We would like to try your product in our office. Would the company be willing to send us enough to tint a few lenses for our approval before we place an order?

    Thanks

We do not have a distributor in Australia, but do have a few customers we serve from Canada. Air freight is relatively in-expensive these days, except for the fuel sur-charges, because freight forwarders make the shipments through the far east were planes go there close to empty, and return with full loads.

Send me an e-mail to oms-optical@yahoo.com with your addres and we will make you a quoye. Australia is very large and rates also depend where you are inside the country.

Of course we have a G15 color just one of over 400 possibilities. The system consist of a new much faster tinting procedure, but does not make the dye.

It replaces the old style tinting unit using heat transfer medias, with a simple household, or commercial microwave, which tint lenses up to a hundred times faster without any toxic fumes.
